5 things I like about our new home

#1 Curbside recycling and garbage pickup
What a great concept. No more trips to the dump or recycling station for the next few years. Just haul it out to the curb and they take it away! Of course, you have to pay for this service, but I'd say it's worth paying for.

#2 Sewing Room
Our little brick house isn't really all that little. My first remark when we arrived in August was that I didn't remember it being quite this large. We have a fully finished basement with two bedrooms, a bathroom, a large recreation room and a massive laundry room. I've turned the one bedroom into a sewing room for myself. It's fabulous. I may have to talk Robin into building an addition when we get home.....

#3 Storage
Did I mention how much storage space we have here? Having lived with none in the past, I am in heaven with all the closets, built-in drawers and cupboard space. I'm sure in time we'll fill them all up (let's hope not), but for now I am relishing all the nooks and crannies to hide things away in.

#4 Backyard haven
Of course I miss our property terribly, the trees, the privacy, the land itself, but it has been kind of nice to have a backyard with grass for a change. Isla is loving the backyard, it is both fenced and spacious. We bought her a sprinkler and with this lingering warm weather, she has had many late afternoon sessions in the spray. And we have fruit trees. Plum, Pear, Cherry and Apple. And they all produce fruit! Sadly we missed the cherry and plum seasons, but we are about to be up to our eyeballs in pears and apples. Even more exciting is our grapevine in the front yard. Perhaps we can get into the wine making business to make a little cash on the side, not sure we'd have much for competition down here.

#5 High speed internet
Most of all, I love our high speed internet. I've decided that being subjected to dial up for as long as we were living in the Slocan Valley was just short of technological torture. I certainly wouldn't be blogging if I were still dialing up. Hope you are enjoying reading it as much as I am enjoying writing it!
